Atlantic Progress Magazine –
Nova Scotia – Open to the World Community Spotlight "Changing with the waves –
Digby County Residents find news ways to create wealth from the sea" Excerpt: In 1785, the Robichaud family was one of the founders of Meteghan, which is located at the southwestern end of Digby County. In 1867 – the same year Canada became a nation – U.J. Robichaud opened for business as a small sawmill operation, turning forest products from the interior into timber to build the growing community. Over the years, a flour mill, general store, and a woodworking business have all come under the U.J. Robichaud banner. Today, the company is affiliated with the TIM-BR Mart brand. Robichaud’s back shop serves as an impromptu museum, where 100 year old belt driven tools are still used to make custom mouldings for customers as far away as Ontario."
