Annual Environmental Excellence in Business Breakfast Celebrating Environment Week 2007 May 31, 2007 (Halifax, NS) – The Eco-Efficiency Centre is holding its eighth annual Environmental Excellence in Business Breakfast on June 4th, 2007, 8 am at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax. The kick off event to Environment Week 2007 in Nova Scotia celebrates good environmental performance in our business community. Six Nova Scotia companies will be recognized for their work to improve environmental and economic performance through technology changes, energy efficiency, resource conservation, reuse and recycling. For some companies, environmental awareness has simply become part of their day-to-day work place culture, and environmental improvements just make good business sense. All of the recognized businesses have experienced multiple benefits that encourage them to continue to endeavour to be both environmentally sound and economically successful. Companies recognized
are as follows: Guest speaker is Lynn Johannson, President of E2 Management Corporation. Lynn brings a discerning view on the synergy between ecology, productivity and innovation. Her experience spans five continents working with businesses, large and small, academia, professional institutes and associations and government. Her consulting career focuses on developing practical solutions to sustainability issues, from strategy to implementation. Lynn’s presentation is entitled “Greening Productivity for Competitive Advantage”. Immediately following the Centre’s breakfast, Lynn Johannson will be hosting a workshop entitled “Designing for Success with Small Business”. Lynn has recently developed a guide “Going for the Green: A manufacturer’s Guide to Lean and Green”, for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. Event sponsors include the HRM Solid Waste Resources, the Halifax Regional Water Commission, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Miller Waste Systems, RRFB Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Power Inc., and the Burnside News. The Eco-Efficiency Centre of Dalhousie University is an award-winning organization that works with small and medium-sized businesses on improving environmental and economic performance.
