Styrospan - Type 4 - 30 PSI Sheathing
Recommended Applications: Radiant Floor Heating Radiant floor heating directs heat upward into the room. To ensure effective and energy efficient operation of the system, particularly for under-slab floor designs, including insulation is critical. Properly insulating radiant floor systems makes it possible to provide maximum comfort at minimum cost. Install STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene insulation under the slab to provide moisture protection and to prevent radiant floor heat from dissipating into the ground. STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation features high compressive strength to satisfy a variety of loading situations, and superior moisture resistance to provide long-term R-value for radiant floor-under slab applications. It is tough and durable to withstand normal construction site handling and is easy to cut and install. Insulating Under the Slab It is important to insulate slabs to reduce the potential for condensation (or sweating) on the slab and to reduce energy loss and increase comfort. And, it is critical to insulate slabs that are going to have floor coverings installed over them to reduce the potential for condensation and mold. It is easy to insulate under the slab before the concrete is poured (placed). STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene insulation offers high moisture resistance, compressive strength and R-value and is ideal for this application. Insulating Over Slab It is important to insulate slabs to reduce the potential for condensation (or sweating) on the slab and to reduce energy loss and increase comfort. And, it is critical to insulate slabs that are going to have floor coverings installed over them to reduce the potential for condensation and mold. It is easy to insulate above new or existing concrete slabs. STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene insulation offers high moisture resistance, compressive strength and R-value and is ideal for this application. Frost Protect Shallow Foundations Building Codes require extending foundations below the frost line to prevent frost-heaving of the foundations. This requires a lot of excavation and concrete, which can be very costly and time-consuming. Frost-protected shallow foundations enable you to meet code without extending the foundation below the frost-line, saving time and money. STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation is ideally suited for this application due its excellent moisture resistance, freeze-thaw stability, compressive strength, foundation modulus and creep properties. Crawlspace Leaving your crawlspace uninsulated can be a major source of energy loss in your home. A continuous layer of STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene on the interior surface of the crawlspace walls is the most effective way to reduce energy loss. It's moisture resistant and reduces the potential for damp, musty crawlspaces. Plus, it cuts easily and installs quickly. |
